How to Plan a Company Holiday Party

Planning a company holiday can be a high-stress assignment. Not only do you need to figure out all the usual details of planning a party – venue, date, food, drinks, décor – but you also need to simultaneously impress your boss and co-workers, and stay under budget. It’s a tough task! But if you pull it off, you’ll earn respect, admiration and appreciation from everyone at the company.

We have a few tips on how to make company holiday party planning a bit easier – and how to make the party more fun. Remember that Broadway Party & Tent Rental has all of your party needs available for rent in an easy one-stop shop!

Set a Theme

Are your coworkers bored of the usual holiday cocktail party? Choose a fun theme to build excitement. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, but could be as simple as a color or year. Draw inspiration from a holiday book or movie. Or take your employees on a tropical vacation without leaving town by throwing a Hawaiian luau! Just make sure the theme you choose is accessible and inoffensive

Plan Activities and Hand Out Prizes

We all like to grumble about icebreakers, but they’re a great way to help company holiday party guests loosen up and interact with one another. Trivia contests, cookie decorating, gingerbread house building, or other low-stakes games are great ways to give a party some structure. And make it worth employees’ time – hand out prizes! They can range from chocolate and coffee, to gift cards, to paid time off – whatever will keep your guests engaged and excited.

Incorporate Altruism

The holidays are a time of year when we all want to give back. Ask guests to bring non-perishable food items or diapers for local food banks, gently used winter coats, or toys for kids in need. Or simply ask for financial donations at the party. Guests will leave the party feeling not only like they had a fun time, but that they made a difference.
