Common Seating Arrangements for Parties and Events
According to socialtables.com, these are 6 of the most common event seating arrangements.
Chevron
This seating arrangement features two columns of short, angled rows of chairs. There is also an aisle down the center. This is a good arrangement for conferences, trainings and presentations, especially those with an audience participation element.
Auditorium
This is a similar arrangement, but seats are placed face-on and without a center aisle. This is ideal for award shows, product demonstrations and press conferences.
Banquet
In banquet-style seating arrangements, round tables are placed evenly throughout the event space, usually with 8-10 chairs set at each. This arrangement works best for weddings, parties and award shows.
Cabaret
This is similar to banquet seating, with one difference. Chairs are only placed around three-fourths of the table, with an opening that faces a specific focal point. Cocktail tables may also be mixed in. This works well for live entertainment, award shows, and training presentations.
U-Shaped
This arrangement involves long tables set in a U-shape, with one end open. This arrangement is ideal for team meetings or presentations to smaller groups.
Classroom
In a classroom-style arrangement, long tables are placed in rows with chairs at each and aisles between sections. It’s best to seat only 4 or 5 chairs at each table with sufficient space between. This works well for trainings, workshops and certifications.
