Social distancing guidelines have forced the cancellation of most celebrations and events, from weddings to graduation parties, family reunions to neighborhood block parties, and everything in between. Most events are being postponed or scaled down, and some – such as bridal showers – are creatively being brought online.
While it may not be as fun as an in-person celebration, a virtual bridal shower is a meaningful way to celebrate a major life event. And it might mean that more people can attend without the limitations of distance.

Send Invitations
Treat the event as any normal party – send invitations! This can be done either digitally or via the mail. It may be a good idea to send a reminder a few days before the party.
Include a Common Element
From a specific piece of clothing to a signature cocktail, choose one element that can be easily replicated among all attendees. This will make the party feel more cohesive, even as guests are connecting virtually.
Create a Virtual Backdrop
If you’re using a platform that allows for custom backgrounds (like Zoom), send all attendees a virtual backdrop to use during the shower. You can create one of your own (with simple bridal shower décor or a balloon arch) or find a ready-made photo online.
Eat and Drink
If budget allows, send guests snacks and drinks to have during the shower. A more budget-friendly idea is to ask all guests to prepare a favorite dish, and write down the recipe to give to the bride.
Send and Open Gifts
Ask guests to mail gifts well in advance of the shower, so the bride can open them live.
Play Games
Many traditional bridal shower games are easy to play digitally, with a little preparation. Get creative and have fun!
