Dye Eggs the Natural Way

For beautiful dyed eggs, look no further than your refrigerator! Not only is this a more natural and healthy way to dye your eggs, but it will produce some lovely, muted colors.

There are a lot of recipes out there, but here are a few to get you started:

  • Pink: Add a chopped beet to 4 cups boiling water. Stir in 2 tbsp. white vinegar.
  • Yellow: Add 2 tbsp turmeric and 2 tsp. white vinegar to 1 cup of boiling water.
  • Orange: Simmer the skins of 6 yellow onions in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes. Strain and add 3 tsp. white vinegar.
  • Blue: Add chopped red cabbage to 4 cups boiling water. Stir in 2 tbsp. white vinegar and remove cabbage.

The first decision you’ll need to make for your hunt is whether to use real or plastic eggs. Either way, experts advise buying about a dozen eggs per hunter so everyone is able to find a good number. Hide them high and low, making sure your youngest guests will be able to reach a few and older kids will be sufficiently challenged!
